In the late 1970’s, while still in high school, Jeff was given an old banjo by his Dad’s cousin. Unfortunately it wasn\'t very playable so he decided to restore it.

As a bass player, occasional guitarist and even less occasional banjo player, Jeff also decided to service, repair and restore his other instruments. As is often the case, friends saw his work and asked if he would work on their instruments too! So began an instrument repairing and restoration hobby that would turn into a business in 2002.

As a third generation instrument repairer, (his grandfather restored violins) Jeff learned his craft from (among such other luthiers as Warren Adams, Phil Dawson and Martin Taylor) his father Tom, one of the most sought after and respected brass and woodwind repairers in Australia.

Jeff was born in Melbourne in 1961, ‘grew up’ in Sydney, is married, has four children, seven grandchildren and, after a brief time in Port Macquarie, now lives in a log cabin at Avoca Beach on the Central Coast of New South Wales. He has been playing music since the age of eleven and his main instrument is bass, for which he has received distinctions with the Australian Music Examinations Board.

These days, apart from being a husband, father and poppy, Jeff\'s \'working\' time is divided between custom guitar building, repairs and restorations, teaching, playing bass in \'TheCoverUp\' and occasional session work. Check out the links page for more info.

Jeff recently completed a Dilpoma of Music Business in Newcastle but ,while doing his Bachelor of Music in Armidale, he studied and performed many of the works by his favourite composer, Bach, who said “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” He also said, “Bring me a bowl of coffee before I turn into a goat.”
